Frequently Asked Questions

How does the Apple Watch companion work?
Once Levelr is open on your iPhone, the Apple Watch app launches automatically and mirrors the live level data to your wrist — pitch, roll, bubble position, and level status. You'll also get a haptic tap on your Watch the moment you lock level. Just open Levelr on your phone, strap on your Watch, and head to the jacks.
Do I need my iPhone nearby for the Watch app to work?
Yes — the Watch app receives live data from the iPhone via WatchConnectivity, so your phone needs to be inside the RV (where it's reading the tilt) while you use the Watch outside at the jacks. Normal Bluetooth range is more than enough for any RV setup.
The bubble isn't centered when my RV is level. What do I do?
This is normal — it just means your phone isn't sitting perfectly flat relative to your RV floor. Use the Calibration feature: place your phone on a known-level surface (or after you've leveled with a separate tool), then tap the calibration button and choose "Set as Level." Levelr will save this offset and use it going forward.
Does Levelr work without an internet connection?
Yes, completely. Levelr has no network features and makes zero internet requests. It works in the middle of nowhere with no signal — which is kind of the point.
How accurate is it compared to a physical bubble level?
Modern iPhones have very accurate accelerometers — typically accurate to within 0.1–0.5° depending on the device and how the phone is placed. For RV leveling purposes (where ±0.5–1.0° is the usual target), Levelr is more than precise enough. For best results, place your phone flat on a hard surface and avoid moving it while reading.
Can I use Levelr in landscape mode?
Yes! Levelr is designed landscape-first. Rotating your phone to landscape gives you a larger bubble display — great for reading from a distance while adjusting jacks.
My screen keeps turning off while I'm outside leveling. How do I fix it?
Enable Always-On Screen in the Settings sheet. This prevents your display from sleeping while Levelr is open. There's also an optional Brightness Boost for bright daytime conditions.
What iOS version does Levelr require?
Levelr requires iOS 16 or later. It is optimized for iPhone and supports all current device sizes.
Will there be an Android version?
Not currently. Levelr is built in SwiftUI and is iOS-only for now. If there's enough interest we'll consider it for the future.
How do I delete my leveling session history?
You can delete individual sessions from the session log, or delete all data at once from the Settings screen. Alternatively, deleting and reinstalling the app will remove all locally stored data.

Tips for best results

📱

Place it flat

Put your phone on a flat, hard surface inside the RV. Carpet or foam can cause slight errors. A dashboard or countertop works great.

🎯

Calibrate once per rig

If you use Levelr in different RVs or trailers, create a preset for each with its own calibration offset for best accuracy.

🌙

Night setups

Use the flashlight toggle and reduce screen brightness slightly so the bubble colors remain visible without blinding yourself.

🔄

Level side-to-side first

Most RV leveling guides recommend getting roll (side-to-side) dialed in first, then adjusting pitch (front-to-back) with the tongue jack.

Use the Watch for solo setups

Wear your Apple Watch and keep the iPhone on a flat surface inside. You can work all four jacks without ever returning to the phone — the Watch shows everything you need.
